Ana on Wings

This coming weekend will be a really important one for me. On Saturday afternoon I will have my first flying lesson. I'm so excited...and so nervous. I've been obsessing with flying ever since I watched Amelia earlier this year, the movie with Hillary Swank which tells of the life of Amelia Earhart, the American flyer who disappeared under somewhat mysterious circumstances over seventy years ago. A remarkable woman, the substance of legends, who should have gone from this earth in the way that she did; young, wonderful, full of energy, full of everything that makes life a battle worth fighting. As I take those controls for the first time it will be her that I think of; not a feminist, not an ideologue, just a woman, just one of the most remarkable people who have ever lived, one who proved that we can achieve anything if we set our minds to it. Nothing truly is impossible. Anyway, think of me; for like Icarus Ana will have wings. :-)

I should add a big hug to mummy and daddy for puting up with my nagging for weeks on end, and for paying for the lessons!

  7. And thank you Garrie for the link and the memories. One of the best and most underrated Pink Floyd albums.
And a division bell indeed. But only in the contemporary sense, as some things never change.
