Worked in the Turks and Caicos and had to go there for materials and liked it so much I went back several times on weekend breaks.

Very distressing place sometimes with much violence and sad children. One little lad I remember had a give-away T shirt with 'Born to Party' on it. He will be in his thirties now if he is still alive. He was born to suffer if anything. Big castle on the hill outside Port aux Prince where an ancient warrior baron showed off the loyalty of his troops to a visitor by marching some to the edge of a canyon and commanding them to jump to their deaths, which they did. By the third rank the visitor was begging him to stop giving the order. Wonderful artists and music and great food. If they only had oil, or something else the West wants.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413130168723738166.post-49196391978114851852010-01-25T00:44:55.923-08:002010-01-25T00:44:55.923-08:00You know, Alyssa, I see stories on the news about ...You know, Alyssa, I see stories on the news about yet another victim being pulled from the rubble. Very gratifying, but what then? Release into an ocean of misery? We can invade a country like Iraq in the teeth of local opposition but we don't seem to be able to get sufficient aid into Haiti.

Yea, Jamie. :-)Anastasia F-Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01284602529524462457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413130168723738166.post-30063319084282075712010-01-25T00:17:33.968-08:002010-01-25T00:17:33.968-08:00Yes indeed, Ana.Yes indeed, Ana.JMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05770347372942866924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413130168723738166.post-35096479319648242972010-01-24T18:28:20.935-08:002010-01-24T18:28:20.935-08:00"Much, much more than money is needed"--..."Much, much more than money is needed"--how true! Don't know how popular this is as an item to discuss, however. I agree with much of your post. My pet peeve has been that private jets landed but medical supplies from Doctors Without Borders could not. What are we going to do? Sometimes I find it's just easier to "go with the flow"...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413130168723738166.post-36146082195076756992010-01-24T17:43:07.928-08:002010-01-24T17:43:07.928-08:00Much, much more than money is needed, Jamie.Much, much more than money is needed, Jamie.Anastasia F-Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01284602529524462457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413130168723738166.post-67717158482751438322010-01-24T16:36:39.487-08:002010-01-24T16:36:39.487-08:00Almost all very true, Ana. On'e mony might not be much good in doing the massive emergency work, but it will help to sustain the subsequent recovery.JMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05770347372942866924noreply@blogger.com
