The other half is made up of conceit! While I'm aware that there is plenty of evidence that he had extant sources available as his source material for much of his work, I don't see how that precludes the existence of other sources - including personal experience! There are a lot of uncertainties about Shakespeare's life. I don't think it's unreasonable to speculate that during some of the blanks he might have found time to visit parts of the country other than Southwark and Stratford-upon-Avon.Calvinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10640148105202971907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413130168723738166.post-7005615738625592702010-11-24T16:56:42.689-08:002010-11-24T16:56:42.689-08:00Calvin, the answer is no! But Macbeth owes much more to the imagination...with a spot of royal flattery thrown in. The depictions of witchcraft are lifted straight from James I's book Daemonologie.Anastasia F-Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01284602529524462457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413130168723738166.post-67492973248855325282010-11-24T16:40:14.051-08:002010-11-24T16:40:14.051-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Fletch's Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16402507296202065300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413130168723738166.post-41160268865182306842010-11-24T16:39:09.314-08:002010-11-24T16:39:09.314-08:00It's certainly worth it.It's certainly worth it.Anastasia F-Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01284602529524462457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413130168723738166.post-26591231167021173132010-11-24T16:31:21.255-08:002010-11-24T16:31:21.255-08:00Nowadays, the Scots reivers bypass the northern co...Nowadays, the Scots reivers bypass the northern counties and head straight for London to work their mischief. A few counter-raids would not go amiss to keep them in their place.

I love the border country, and enjoyed exploring its lonely places when I was about your age. Sir Walter made it romantic, but life must have been brutally hard there in the days of the mini-Ice Age; it is bleak enough today, when the northeast gales scream across the sea from Scandinavia. I have wondered whether Wm. Shakespeare ever ventured so far north before composing the Scottish Play.Calvinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10640148105202971907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4413130168723738166.post-32463737689339241522010-11-24T16:07:26.779-08:002010-11-24T16:07:26.779-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Fletch's Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16402507296202065300noreply@blogger.com
